Have your say on conservation plans for historic Lark Hill

Worcester City Council is seeking feedback from local people on its draft appraisal for the Lark Hill Conservation Area (surrounding WR5 2EQ), which lies to the north of Worcester and is of significant Georgian architectural and historic interest.

A public exhibition about the Lark Hill appraisal will be held at St. Martin’s Parish Centre, London Road, Worcester on Tuesday February 21 from 5.30-7.30pm. Throughout the exhibition there will be the opportunity to discuss the appraisal with the City Council’s Conservation Officer.

The exhibition will also be displayed at The Guildhall, High Street, Worcester from Monday February 27 to Friday March 3.

“This is your opportunity to have your say on the Council’s proposals to help preserve the unique heritage and character of Lark Hill, designed to ensure that the pressures and demands of development do not have a negative impact on the area,” says Cllr Roger Berry, Cabinet Member for Housing and Heritage at Worcester City Council.

Appraisals for conservation areas are used to provide a sound basis for future decisions on planning and development.  Local councils have legal obligations to regularly review the extent of conservation areas and to formulate and publish proposals for their preservation and enhancement.

The Lark Hill Conservation Area was designated by Worcester City Council in 1980.  All 18 conservation areas within Worcester City are currently being reviewed.

The Appraisal document and a feedback form are available on the City Council’s website at http://www.worcester.gov.uk/conservation-areas and a paper copy is also available to view at The Guildhall, Worcester.

The deadline for receiving any comments in writing is by the close of business on Friday, March 20, 2017.
